The 40-hour Interpersonal Mediation Practitioner's Certificate qualifies your organisation's delegates as 'Accredited Mediators'.
One reason for the popularity of the course is that we prioritise learning-by-doing in order to build up your learners’ competence and confidence as conflict mediators. All of our trainers are themselves practising mediators, who pass on their knowledge and skills through a variety of interactive exercises and group activities.
In addition to our 'Accredited Mediator' status, your delegates will also achieve 'IMI Qualified Mediator' status. The IMPC is formally recognised by the International Mediation Institute, meaning that the qualification holds weight globally.
The course can be delivered in one of two ways:
a 5-day face-to-face course delivered at your location
or a 6-day blended course (3 days online + 3 days face-to-face)
If you are looking to attend this course as an individual, we run open-access courses in conjunction with our sister organisation, UK Mediation. These are delivered face-to-face in the UK throughout the year.
Become an 'Accredited Mediator'
Become an 'IMI Qualified Mediator'
Learn to resolve all types of interpersonal disputes
Prior to the training delivery, we carry out a detailed pre-course consultation in order to tailor all course materials, practical exercises, and case simulations to your requirements.
Who better to teach you about mediation than an actual mediator? All of our trainers are also actively practising mediators with a wealth of experience to call upon.
We have trained people from all over the world with hundreds of testimonials to show for it. The IMPC is also recognised worldwide thanks to the unique accreditations that we hold.
We are the only mediation company to hold the ISO:9001 Quality Standard. You can be assured that all of our training courses are delivered in a quality-focused manner.
We don’t wash our hands of you after your training course. We provide access to the IMPC Learner Zone, an online hub of resources, forms for your practice, and further reading.
The course covers everything you need to know to become a professional mediator, including:
The psychology of conflict: what makes people the way they do and how this will influence what we do as mediators
The principles of mediation: how mediation compares with other ways of resolving disputes, and how to choose what sorts of situations should be mediated
Dealing with resistance: Getting people’s buy-in and dealing with resistance and disruption during the sessions
The structure of the mediation process: the steps and stages of our seven-stage mediation model, and the purpose of each stage
The responsibilities of the mediator: what the mediator adds that the parties can’t do for themselves, and the importance of confidentiality and impartiality
Taking your practice forward: how you will apply your new skills, conforming to best practice, and adhering to a Code of Conduct.
Our trainers have a wealth of practical experience in delivering mediation sessions and are able to adapt the course content to the make-up of the particular learning group.
The aim of the course is to get you to the point of being confident and competent to practice interpersonal mediation, and to get you to the point of Accredited Mediator status.
At the conclusion of the course, you will be able to:
Compare and contrast mediation with other forms of dispute resolution
Identify the skills and qualities of an effective mediator
Understand how to apply mediation
Set up and run mediation sessions
Achieve the six learning outcomes of the Interpersonal Mediation Practitioner's Certificate
All of our courses are live, interactive events, run by a practising mediator who is an expert in the field.
